Gangtok, November 27: In a major development concerning around 37,000 state government employees, the Chief Minister Pawan Kumar Chamling today thrashed over the resentment on the pay revision made by the state government saying that if the employees were not satisfied with the recommendation of 4th Pay Commission, state government would be bound to bring home the 6th Pay Commission recommendations at par with Central government employees.

Directly rejecting the resentment of government employees Chamling said that the 4th Pay Commission having recommended 300 percent hike in basic pay in comparison to the earlier one is the highest in India. “In spite of benefiting from this advantage the employees are persistently complaining instead of being thankful to the government” he said.

“We would be compelled to implement Center’s 6th Pay Commission withdrawing the state government 4th Pay Commission, if the employees are not satisfied with it.”

“We will definitely impose 6th Pay Commission if the activities continue going like this,” Chief Minister said warning the state government employees over the pay revision issue.

He said that the government has already paid Rs.150 crore as two interim reliefs to government employees and the expenditure on salary would mount to Rs.1200 crores annually. “A major chunk of funds meant for developmental works is diverted towards salary expenses” he said.

The Chief Minister’s statement comes at a time, when high resentment of government employees basically from group C and D and state police personnel has surfaced in the state. He informed this while addressing a foundation stone laid ceremony of Mankhim, a religious place of Rai Community here at Ranka, 15 kms away from here.
