Gangtok, June 20: The Commercial Taxes Division, Finance, Revenue and Expenditure Department officially launched Sikkim Electronic Vanijyakar Administration (SeVA) under National E-Governance Programme in mission mode project at Chintan Bhawan today. SeVA is an online taxation Programme and is an effort towards transparent and accountable administration.  SeVA is accessible through the website www.sikkimtax.gov.in.
 Minister for Information Technology unveiled the SeVa today in presence of Commissioner cum Secretary, Finance Revenue and Expenditure Department, Mr K.N. Bhutia, Principal Director IT, Mr Rajesh Verma, Heads of Department, President and members of Sikkim Chamber of Commerce, Chemist Association, Gangtok Hardware Association, Association of Old Settlers of Sikkim,Lall bazar Traders and Hawker Association and other Government officials.
 While addressing the Minister informed that Sikkim Electronic Vanijyakar Administration is a landmark in the history of Sikkim as far as e-governance is concerned. E- Governance is an ultimate goal of the State Government and SeVA is one such project towards this direction. Highlighting the State Government initiatives in building knowledge based society, the Minister also informed about 45 Community Information Centres spread across in the state in trying to create awareness amongst the grassroots people about IT and other initiatives like computerized Land Records, making internet available to every household . Mr Pradhan  also expressed about some teething problem which can be solved if participation and cooperation is provided and in the same manner also sought support of every individual in making e- governance a success in the state.
 The Commissioner cum Secretary FRED expressed that SeVA is a step forward for IT and is an effort to bring transparency. It is also to ensure minimum interface between the dealer and officials.
  The Principal Director IT, Mr Rajesh Verma also gave an overoview of history of computerization in the state.
