Powergrid to host skills development for economically poor youth

 KOLKATA,.  As part of its CSR initiatives, Powergrid, Eastern Region II, Kolkata, will draft youths from the economically weaker sections of society in its skill development and capacity-building programmes.

Training will be given to SC, ST, minority and backward classes and women candidates.

Powergrid, along with the West Bengal Consultancy Organisation Ltd (WEBCON), have initiated five skill development training programmes in food processing, electric wiring, repairing and servicing, sanitary plumbing and two-wheeler repairing and servicing.

The programmes will cover 130 youths and entrepreneurs from Sikkim and different blocks of the North Bengal districts of West Bengal.

Trainees will be provided with guidance in relevant businesses. Other than the toolkits, trainees will be given a stipend of Rs 2,000.
