Japan has the highest number of banknotes and coins under circulation as a percentage of GDP. The next in the pack, Russia, China and India are neck and neck. Although the Euzo zone lags behind, it takes the cake in terms of absolute value as it is the world's most abundant currency. Almost US$ 1.2 trillion-worth of euros was floating about at the end of 2010.
