TAILOR BIRD: Scientific name: Orthotomus sutorius Distinguishing features: Tailor bird is even smaller than a sparrow. An olive green and white body, with a reddish head, and a long upright tail. Common habitat: Seen in bushes and trees in city gardens. A loud call for such a small bird. Feeding habit: Feeds on insects, caterpillars. Also favours the nectar of the flowers of the Silk cotton tree and the coral tree. Unique characteristic: An unusual nest made of a leaf or 2-3 leaves stitched to create a cuplike structure.
