Ambuja Realty to come up with three new tourist resortsBS Reporter |

Real estate major Ambuja Realty is planning to set up three more tourist resorts in West Bengal and Sikkim in the Ganga Kutir model.

“Like Ganga Kutir in West Bengal, we are planning to come up with three more tourist resorts. Two of them will be in West Bengal and one will be in Sikkim. However, we have not decided on the investment aspects of the projects,” said Harshavardhan Neotia, Chairman, Ambuja Realty.

Ganga Kutir is located at Raichak, about 35 kilometres away from Kolkata on river banks. It is the first resort hotel of the company and targets high-end customers. Now, the resort and spa has 18 rooms and would have another 12 within a year.

“The response to Ganga Kutir since its inception is heartening. The demand was so high that we have now launched another 10 additional suites with Sundarawasala,” Neotia said. The company has already zeroed in on the location for the two Bengal projects. “The company already has the land with it. In West Bengal we have bought land in Darjeeling and Kurseong. On the otherhand, the location in Sikkim is close to Gangtok,” the Chairman added.

The new suites, Sunderawasala, are surrounded by water bodies surrounding the river. Ganga Kutir is designed by Channa Daswatte, who is one of Sri Lanka’s leading architects, modeling the structure of a small village.

Meanwhile, regarding the investment for Ganga Kutir, he said, “For the total project, we have invested Rs 20 crore and only Sunderawasala cost about Rs 6 crore.”
