To
Ms. Ambika Soni Ji
Hon’ble Union Minister
Ministry of Information and Broadcasting
Government of India
560-A Wing, Shastri Bhawan
New Delhi

Sub: Appointment of sufficient number of appropriate man-power vis-à-vis Regular employees for Tribal Bhutia Lepcha Language Programmes in All India Radio (Gangtok).

Akashwani, All India Radio
At the onset, I would once again wish to extend our heartiest gratitude to the UPA Government through your good self for incorporating daily Bhutia News Programme in the All India Radio (Gangtok) in 2007. However, at the acute shortage of a regular News Reader for Bhutia, the realisation of our long term demand by your esteem Ministry becomes meaningless. It is worth-mentioning and surprising to note at the same time that till now there exist only one Regular Employee for Bhutia Section who has to manage with all the functioning including programme management, News editing, etc of the Bhutia Language. The All India Radio (Gangtok) does not even have a Regular News Reader in Bhutia and Lepcha languages who still entertain casual employees for the purpose on the “hire & fire” basis.

Under the circumstances, we seek your immediate intervention to ensure that the All India Radio (Gangtok) has sufficient man-power to cater to the different aspects of the vanishing Tribal Bhutia and Lepcha Language programmes including Programme management, News Editing, News Reading, etc on Regular basis with immediate fresh appointments.

With highest regards.
