MANAN KENDRA INAUGURATED IN SIKKIM

 The Chief Minister of Sikkim inaugurated the magnificent, high tech and splendidly constructed Manan Kendra at Jeewan theeng marg, Development area, Gangtok today.
The Chief Minister in his inaugural address while elaborating on the word Manan  said that the word Manan means serious thought in any issue which should give feeling of ownership towards the people, society, state and the nation at large. Elaborating further, he added serious thought should have a positive impact on the responsibility of the people towards the society. We should give a responsible serious thought on how to develop our state and nation, he added.
Talking about the Salad Bowl Approach a subject much talked about by the social scientists, the Chief Minister said that like many vegetables together makes a good salad, so various communities together make a good society. But for this, the existence of all the vegetables have to be ensured and protected so that the ingredients of salad are available to make a good salad in bowl, he added. Likewise, in the same manner in order to make a good Sikkimese society we in government are trying to protect all the communities of the state. In this regard the Chief Minister highlighted about the various activities undertaken by the government to protect language, arts, traditions, culture of the various communities of the state. While protecting the individual communities, the Chief Minister went on saying that the government was even blamed for creating fraction in the Sikkimese society which was baseless and with vested interest. The government did not bother about the blame but went on its task of protecting the interest of Sikkimese and now when all the Sikkimese are protected it is time that we work collectively in a coordinated and cooperative manner.
During the inaugural address, the Chief Minister also highlighted on various policies like organic farming, ecotourism, service industry etc taken by the government for the betterment of the Sikkimese society.
The Minister for Cultural Affairs and heritage Department in his welcome address  while highlighting about the activities taken by the government in the protection, propagation, preservation and development of language, literature, art, music and tradition said that the establishment of the National School of Drama is  to encourage the youths in the field of performing art which besides being a good livelihood option can make our people renowned throughout the world.
The Minister for Cultural Affairs and Heritage Department presented a memento to the Chief Minister.
The contractor of the magnificent infrastructure was also felicitated by a letter of appreciation by the Chief Minister.
The inaugural function saw musical performance by eminent artists from Sikkim and outside besides a unique musical presentation of three ethnic groups by songs and Drama Unit, Cultural Affairs and Heritage Department. CANTATA performance with the name “One Blue Spectrum of Dusk” was the major highlight of the musical event
