THE KOEL: Scientific name: Eudynamys scolopaceus Distinguishing features: Male birds are black all over, with ruby red eyes. The female birds are brown with pale coloured spots. More familiar by calls than by sight. Common habitat: Usually seen resting on trees. Do not come to the ground. Feeding habit: Omnivorous.
