3 Sikkimese chess players to participate in National Chess Championship


GANGTOK, September 12: The three aspiring chess players from Sikkim have been selected to participate in the 48th Challenger National Chess Championship to be held in Bihar from September 15 to 26.

This is for the first time that chess players from the Himalayan State have been selected in the National Championship.
Bhola Gurung, Phurba W Bhutia and MK Giri left for the championship this morning after they were accorded befitting farewell by Councillor of Tadong Ward Bhasker Basnet.

The President of Sikkim Chess Association, Hari Shanker Sharma is also presently participating in “Grand Master & International Chess Championship” which is being held in Arbitar, Kathmandu from September 9.
