‘Mahadeothan Mandir could also be incorporated in pilgrimage tourism’



NAMCHI, July 27: Chief Minister Pawan Chamling today offered prayers at the Shankar Mahadeothan Mandir at Kholagari, South Sikkim as part of his annual ‘Sawan’ offerings made during Shiva Paath ceremony.
The ceremony, which began today, was also taken part by Mrs. Tika Maya Chamling. Namchi Singhithang MLA Binod Rai, SP (South) Manoj Tewari, Special Secretary CM Secretariat DR Nepal, SDM (Hqr) YD Tamang, Up-Adhakshya Himal Tamang, members of Panchayats and devotees also made offerings in honour of Lord Shiva.
During a brief meet with the public at the temple rest house, the Chief Minister said that it is his endeavour to make Sikkim a complete Organic State, for which he called upon the Panchayats to help the Government in creating massive awareness among the youth in the villages regarding the organic farming and its advantages.
He also informed the Panchayats that the State Government would soon start a programme on organic farming at the rural level by helping the educated youth of these areas to take up organic farming as their occupation and make them exporter of their produce. Mr. Chamling further said that through organic farming drive in the State, he would also provide sustainable methods of livelihood for his people.
The Chief Minister said that the educated youth of Sikkim should exercise their education on productive level in setting an example to others by becoming self-reliant and becoming a ‘producer and not a consumer’. He also stressed that the youth should avail of the opportunities arising from the Government policies and ventures to empower themselves. Mr. Chamling informed that it is his idea to make Sikkim the next pilgrimage tourist destination and said that Kholaghari Mandir could also be incorporated in the pilgrimage tourism.
