SIKKIM: Chamling urges MHA to allow Gyalwa Karmapa to visit Sikkim


Mangan, February 18: Chief minister Pawan Chamling has demanded Union government and Home Ministry to allow Gyalwa Karmapa to visit Sikkim which is a long pending demand of public. He has made such demand publicly at North Sikkim during Janata Mela 2009-10 concluded here at Mangan, today.

Chief Minister reiterated that Sikkim being peaceful state and has said that the government is providing several developmental schemes and activities for sustainable development of the state in long run.
Highlighting the developmental activities and potentiality in the state Chamling said that once power projects completed in the state, the financial status and gross domestic product (GDP) of Sikkimese people will go up and Sikkim will become self reliant state in the country. He emphasis other medium of source of income of rural people through agro based industries that should be established in the state very soon.

Chief Minister has cautioned the private sector investors to provide maximum job opportunities to local people at the earliest and asked for the compliance of the state government directives.

Chamling said that the tourism should be more explored and Kabi-Lungchok, the historical place where brotherhood treaty between the Bhutia and Lepchas brothers were assigned will developed into tourist destination and soon the project will start and have to complete within 36 months. In Dzongu and Lachen- Mangan also several tourist spots will developed and one underground Gumpa will be constructed carved in rocks a unique kind in world which DPR is under preparation, Chamling said.
