Full-fledged film city to come up at Gangtok


Here’s good news for film enthusiasts. The State Rural Management and Development Department CB Karki yesterday announced that the State Government would soon begin construction of a full-fledged film city in Gangtok after suitable land is availed.
Mr. Karki said this while talking to media persons after the mahurat of the Nepali film, ‘Key Saino Ley Bolau’ was held at Samardung, near 20th Mile, Mazitar yesterday.

“The entire State is a setting for films but our endeavour in setting up this infrastructure is just to encourage our budding film makers,” the Minister said.

“The construction works of the film city would start immediately,” he said adding that the State Government would fully support individuals interested in film making on Sikkim. “We welcome and support anyone interested to make film in tourism sector,” he said.

Mr. Karki further said that shooting of many regional language films are going on at different location of the State. A Tamil film crew will soon begin shooting in Sikkim, he added
