Sikkim tops list of tourism development fund
GANGTOK, January 5: Sikkim has emerged top in the list of States in India to receive fund for tourism development with Rs 16344.53 lakhs sanctioned by the Ministry of Tourism for development and promotion of tourism during the Eleventh Five Year Plan upto September, 2009.
The Ministry, a PIB release informs provides financial assistance for tourism projects based on the proposals received from them subject to availability of funds and inter-se priority. A total of 63 projects have been sanctioned for Sikkim for Rs 16344.53 lakhs.
However, Jammu & Kashmir tops the list of projects sanctioned at 78 for Rs 14170.80 lakhs.
In total, Rs 195140.95 lakhs have been sanctioned for 620 projects for 35 States and Union Territories in the country.
