UIDAI Invites Comments on Proposed Draft National Identification Authority of India Bill, 2010

The Unique Identification Authority of India is set up as an attached office of the Planning Commission. It is now proposed to be set up as a statutory authority by the name of National Identification Authority of India.

The National Identification Authority of India is to be set up with the purpose of issuing identification numbers (aadhaar numbers) to residents and to provide the means to authenticate aadhaar numbers to enable delivery of services and benefits to such individuals. The proposed draft Bill (National Identification Authority of India Bill, 2010) is available on the website www.uidai.gov.in.

The UIDAI invites comments and suggestions on the National Identification Authority of India Bill, 2010.
