SFA hails Gill for introducing pension scheme for 3 players

Sikkim Football Association on Monday congratulated Sports Minister M S Gill for meeting a long-standing demand of the footballers in the country by announcing a monthly pension scheme for three veteran players.
Three footballers, Shyam Thapa, Amber Bahadur Gurung and Sukalayan Ghosh Dastdar, all part of the bronze medal winning team at the 1970 Asian Games, have been named by the Ministry for a monthly pension of Rs. 6,000 each under the scheme of pension for Meritorious Sportsperson through Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC).
"This is a positive decision, which will inspire budding young footballers to pursue their career, an SFA Press release said after a meeting here.
Hailing LIC for the good job, the SFA hoped such good gesture will help other insurance companies and the banks to do the same in future.
