Financial Inclusion Network to expand into North-East including Sikkim
Hyderabad, April 5:
Financial Inclusion Network and Operations Ltd is planning to
expand its operations in the north-eastern states.
“We have tied-up with some private banks and also State Bank of
India to expand financial inclusion services in the north-east. At present,
experimental operations are going on,’’ Mr Mario S. Roche, Vice-President and
head of zonal operations, told newspersons here on Thursday.
Private banks which have tied up with FINO, include ICICI Bank and
Axis Bank, he said, adding that banks were expecting to have about six million
accounts in the region initially.
The Mumbai-based company conducts its operations through business
correspondents on behalf of banks. It operates on a business technology platform
using biometric smart cards and hand-held devices.
