Indian-American receives Excellence in Global Friendship Award

Washington, Jan 18 (PTI) Dallas-based Indian-American Ashok Mago has been presented with the ''Excellence in Global Friendship Award'', in recognition of his outstanding contribution in promoting Indian culture in the US and strengthening India-US relationship.

Mago, who has played a key role in the Indo-US civilian nuclear deal, was presented with the award by Sikkim Governor B P Singh at a function held in New Delhi early this month, said a media release issued here yesterday.

Former Indian Ambassador to the US Lalit Mansingh was also present at the award ceremony of the Unity International Foundation.

Governor Singh lauded the role played by Mago in bringing India and US closer and hoped that others will follow his lead and be involved in the communities they live in and bring the country of their birth and their adopted homeland closer.
