Zuri Group Global, the multinational conglomerate having business interests spread across India, Kenya, UK, has announced the launch of Zuri’s first property in Sikkim, under the Management Contract Model.
To be named as “The Retreat by Zuri, Baiguney, Sikkim”, the property will be operational from October 1, 2010 and will be Zuri’s first adventure sports destination resort to offer options like Paragliding, River Rafting, River Camping, Mountain Camping, Jungle Hiking, Village Trekking, etc all under one roof and under expert supervision.
Unveiling the new property, Mr. Bobby Kamani, Managing Director, Zuri Group Global said, “A couple of years ago, we took a giant leap towards our vision of being an international hospitality major of choice with the launch of our brand of luxury hospitality – The Zuri. Today, with the launch of The Retreat by Zuri, Sikkim, I am proud of being able to steadily realise this vision and we do hope to make a significant presence felt across the nation.”
The Retreat by Zuri, Baiguney, Sikkim is currently a 21-key resort with single, double rooms and suites with an average size of 250 square feet each and aims to expand to over 50-keys spread across stand-alone cottages and independent suites. Architecturally designed to blend into the natural surroundings and terrain across multiple levels, the property also houses Zuri’s signature Spa-brand ‘MAYA’.
“Reports have shown that the north-eastern region is an unexplored terrain with vast tourism potential, with individual state governments backing up the region to develop adventure activities. As a young brand, we feel this was the opportune time for us to enter this market and capitalise on the growing opportunities here,” added Mr. Bobby Kamani.
The group recently took a bold step of restructuring their hospitality business at an initial stage of their operations, thereby building a clear brand identity in the minds of their customers. The business is now categorised into three luxury collections – The Platinum, Lifestyle and Comfort.
The Platinum Collection now incorporates the luxurious Diani Reef Beach Resort and Spa, Kenya and The Zuri Kumarakom Resort & Spa, Kerala to offer world-class comfort and convenience. The Lifestyle Collection houses The Zuri Whitefield Bengaluru, The Zuri Whitesands Resort & Casino, Varca, Goa and The Liner, UK to emulate the lifestyle of clients who are patrons of certain brands and Zuri will fit as their preferred brand of hotels and resorts. The Comfort Collection offers comfortable rooms and amenities that are comfortable on the guests’ wallets as well. The Retreat by Zuri, Benaulim, Goa and the now-launched The Retreat by Zuri, Sikkim are a part of this collection.
In a bid to further gain foothold in the Indian hospitality market, the group now plans to adopt a multi-dimensional strategy for growth.
Commenting on this development, Mr. Abhishek Kamani, Managing Director, Zuri Group Global said, “As a young brand, it is imperative for Zuri to make its presence felt across key markets in India and internationally, in a short span of time. In order to increase our footprint, we are focused on organic and inorganic growth, management contract route and are open to looking at private equity partnerships in the next 5 years. We are already in advanced stages of talks with a few private owners in the eastern and southern markets.”
