Sikkim University MEd topper selected to witness Republic Day Parade from PM’s Box
GANGTOK, January 18: Saroza Pradhan, who has topped Sikkim University in MEd will be one of the few lucky students from Sikkim to share the Prime Minister’s Box at Rajghat in New Delhi to witness the Republic Day Parade 2010.
The PGT (English) teacher from Samdong Senior Secondary School, East Sikkim is amongst the 100 meritorious students selected from all over India to witness the parade from the VVIP Box.
The letter sent by the Ministry of Human Resource Development Department of Higher Education has directed Mrs. Pradhan to take up the matter of security clearance with the State Government and District Magistrate. It has also stated that a group photo will be taken and certificates distributed to the meritorious students on the occasion.
Resident of Lower Arithang and daughter of Late KK Pradhan and Ratna Pradhan, Mrs Pradhan had secured overall 85 % in MEd from Harka Maya College of Education, Gangtok. “It’s a great honour to witness the Republic Day Parade from the Prime Minister’s Box. I feel happy and inspired,” she told SIKKIM EXPRESS over the phone.
She has also thanked the Principal of Harka Maya College of Education for the inspiration.
She will be joined by Umesh Pradhan from Kurseong, who has also topped BEd in Library Science from Damber Singh College under Sikkim University.
