CM announces opening of 12 more capacity building institutes in Sikkim

The Chief Minister Mr. Pawan Chamling who is the first Chief Minister in the nation to introduce Capacity building programme and Livelihood schools for the youth and younger generation of the State of Sikkim to make them capable, competent and self reliant individuals saw more than 150 students, complete the training for Spoken English /Personality development, Driving/ Tour Guide, and Retail Management from State Institute of Capacity Building, (SICB) Karfectar, South Sikkim. The trainees who were mainly from Yangang Rangang, Upper Burtuk, Arithang Chujachen Livelihood Schools and from the institution, received the certificates for completing their training for the above mentioned disciplines, from the Chief Minister Mr. Chamling in a function organized in the conference hall of the institution.
Addressing the gathering of students Mr. Chamling informed that it was the brain child of his government to have these capacity building institutes and livelihood schools in the state to make the youths and the younger generation of Sikkim capable and self reliant. He expressed his satisfaction and happiness to see these students complete the training programme and become competent and self reliant.
Mr. Chamling also mentioned that there were 19 capacity building institutes in the state and 12 more will be started within the next hundred days. During the occasion he also announced that hence forth even the female drivers will be eligible for the post of drivers in government departments and announced 30% reservation for them in the post.
Earlier chairing the 1st Governing Body/Board Meeting the Chief Minister who is also the Chairperson of SICB gave his approval to the 20 points agendas placed by the Chief Administrator of SICB Mr. S.D Dhakal. He also informed the members during the meet about the objectives of having these capacity building and livelihood schools in the state and also directed that the training which is being imparted to these students in these institutes should be job oriented, and stated that identifying the job market which is available in the state as well as outside is of utmost importance. He was very hopeful that the students trained in these institutes will be a potent and capable working force for the state and a self reliant lot.
Mr. Chamling also asked the Chief Administrator of the institution to get the things which are required to be done in the institution in a mission mode and complete all the pending works within the next 100 days. During this meet the Chief Administrator also presented the background and the progress report (from 10thDecember 2009 to 31st March 2011) of the institution.
The meeting was attended by Ministers for Human resources Development department Mr. N.K Pradhan, Ministers Mr. Dawcho Lepcha and Ms. Neeru Sewa along with M.P Lok Sahba Mr. P.D Rai, Chief Secretary Mr. N.D Chingapa and heads of various departments
