MOU signed between Himalaya Drug and Sikkim Government
Himalaya Drug Company, Bangalore and Government of Sikkim through SIMFED signed a MoU (Memoranda of Understanding) on Friday for cultivation and sustainable collection of medicinal herbs in Sikkim during a meeting at the Conference Hall of Tashiling Secretariat. The Chief Minister of Sikkim Pawan Chamling chaired the meeting.
The main objectives of the MOU included cultivation and sustainable collection of medicinal herbs in Sikkim, 100% buy back guarantee, long term collaboration contributing towards empowerment of rural farmers, sustainable collection of medicinal plants for commercial purpose from Sikkim, promotion of organic farming, cultivation of medicinally important orchid species, research survey of unexplored and non- commercial plants of Sikkim, training programme on good agricultural and collection practices, sustainable collection and tissue culture.
The meeting was attended by the officials of the Himalaya Drug Company, Bangalore led by Deputy Chairman Ravi Prasad, Chairman SIMFED G.C. Rai, and PCCF cum Secretary Forest S.T.Lachungpa, Secretary Cooperation Nim Yethenpa, M.D.SIMFED and other officials.
